The YYachts shipyard

The YYACHTS shipyard is located on the Baltic Sea, almost directly on the water. This is where we are able to produce sustainable carbon sailboats up to 35 meters in length.

The shipyard is the place where we shape our philosophy: The lightweight construction of a yacht is accompanied by more sustainable and fun sailing. When other yachts still require motor navigation, our sails are already deployed.

The different layers of carbon fiber and resin are baked in this shipyard to give the hull the required strength and stability, adding safety to sailing with a YYACHTS.

We guarantee the highest construction quality in our sailboats thanks to our team widely experienced in the design and manufacture of yachts and sailboats.

Only those sailboats that we would sail ourselves leave the shipyard.

Installations

The production area is equipped with modern and advanced systems, keeping Michael Schmidt’s philosophy clear: “Keep it simple”. Wherever possible, production processes are digitized.

The YYACHTS shipyard is equipped with powerful cranes, making it easy to lift and move completed hulls and sailboats along the production line.

Floating scaffolding allows our specialists to work on the hull and inside the sailboat at the same time. Our in-house carpentry section, located in the center of the production area, is equipped with the best equipment to carry out any design specification.

Production process: Precise and fast.

The different components and interior segments of our carbon sailboats are processed in a modular way to optimize assembly precision and reduce delivery times.

Sophisticated planning also allows for a shorter delivery time, and therefore a smaller time window from order placement to delivery of the yacht. Production times for the YYACHTS Y7 yacht are around 6 months, for the Y8 they are 11 months and for the Y9, the YYACHTS flagship, no more than 18 months.

The example of the engine room illustrates how YYACHTS works: It is built parallel to the hull and is equipped with all the technical components that the owner and operating team will require. In the assembly phase, the already built engine room is installed in the space provided in the hull. The propellants are then added and connected to the propulsion systems through the shaft or sail, as well as electrical cables, pipes and electrical systems.

A shipyard facing the sea

When hulls arrive at YYACHTS in a raw state, they must be prepared before painting. Painting a yacht is a demanding process that, after priming and primer coat, will be completed with another two top coats and a clear protective varnish.

The next step is to fix the layout and adjust it to the fuselage. All electrical circuits must be installed, as well as pipes, motors and hydraulics. Then the deck is placed, which has previously been veneered with teak or a wood of the owner’s choice.

Once the deck is in place, it is time to perform the final assembly of the superstructure, deck fittings and hydraulic system. At the same time, our carpenters finish the interior according to the designs of the interior designers. This is what makes a YYACHTS unmistakably unique.

The furniture selected by the owner is then installed. The final step is the launch, which takes place in the waters outside the shipyard. Here, our experts fit the carbon mast and boom and secure them with ultra-light rigging before the yacht’s christening takes place.

Testing process

Each carbon sailboat is tested by Michael Schmidt himself and his delivery team, who will not be limited to gentle tests in low wind, but will thoroughly test the performance of the boat, personally testing the strength, reliability and behavior of the boat in high winds. . If the boat passes the tests and only after Michael’s approval, the sailboat will be delivered to the client with the christening ceremony, which confirms our philosophy:

Only those sailboats that we would sail ourselves leave the shipyard.
