Customizable luxury yachts YCUSTOM by YYachts.
Creating sailboats completely customizable by their owner.

At YYACHTS, the YCUSTOM division has been created, dedicated to the design and manufacture of completely customizable and exclusive luxury sailboats.

Our YCUSTOM yachts usually start from a blank sheet of paper, where the owner’s ideas take shape. We have a team of specialists with extensive experience, who are in charge of developing the project according to the wishes and preferences of the future owner of the sailboat.

The YCUSTOMs, like all YYACHTS luxury sailboats, share a structure entirely made of carbon fiber. They are manufactured at YYACHTS Greifswald, Germany, where custom versions of the Y7, Y8 and Y9 models are also produced.

What does a YCUSTOM yacht offer?

360º Customer Experience

Our team of experts is at your entire disposal and will accompany you every step of the project, listening to you, understanding your needs and preferences and advising you on the best solutions.

Exclusive customization

Shape your dream yacht and enjoy a luxurious and unrepeatable sailing experience.

40 years of experience

Michael Schmidt’s 40 years of experience in the construction of luxury sailboats and boats is a guarantee of trust.

Lightweight construction

Using carbon fiber and lightweight construction materials on the interior, YYACHTS yachts achieve a high displacement/sail area ratio.

German engineering

Our experience in the construction of luxury sailboats such as the Y7, Y8 or Y9, as well as their components, ensures maximum reliability. Furthermore, our unrivaled production process allows us total control of the quality of the sailboat and its finishes.

The YC/Tripp 90

A leading example of the YCUSTOM division’s excellence is the YC/Tripp 90, a 90-foot carbon sloop designed by American naval architect Bill Tripp. The interiors, crafted by London-based superyacht design leader Winch Design, enhance her splendor. The yacht was launched in May 2021 for an international client who plans to participate in regattas and cruises around the world.

On the one hand, we have made sure to equip the best-in-class interiors, with volumes equivalent to a 100-foot sailboat. On the other hand, avoiding exaggerated lengths, the YC/Tripp 90 adapts perfectly to a human dimension, without useless spaces that are difficult to manage and maintain.

It’s a sailboat with great value and exquisite finishes, with great navigation capabilities. She has been designed for long, fast cruises around the world, and for great adventures in which the boat sets sail for unknown places, crossing oceans, discovering islands.

YC/Tripp 90 exterior

Extremely manageable and easy to sail even with a reduced crew thanks to its carbon sails, rigs, self-tacking jib and hydraulically furling mainsail, this sailboat is the perfect fusion of elegance and technology thanks to elegant and smooth lines with the unmistakable YYachts signature.

YC/Tripp 90 interior

Inside the sailboat nothing has been left to chance. From the elegant oak flooring in the master stateroom, to the sliding roof and large windows with sea views in the dining area, the YC/Tripp 90 is an exquisite sailing and luxury experience.

Bill Tripp’s interview

Bill Tripp is the designer of the YC/Tripp 90, a collaboration between him and Michael Schmidt Yachtbau. In his own words, this sailboat marks a goal that many other designers and owners will aspire to, a boat with exceptional finishes and optimal navigation capacity, with only 3 crew members. Tripp highlights this sailboat’s carbon construction and the invisible nature of the technology, which goes completely unnoticed for much more comfortable navigation.

The Eugen Seibold

One of our most demanding projects to date was the construction of the sailboat “Eugen Seibold”, a highly innovative yacht designed for environmental research. We received this order from the Swiss Werner Siemens Foundation and delivered the finished yacht in autumn 2018.

Since then, the “Eugen Seibold” is managed by the renowned Max Planck Institute so that scientists from all over the world can carry out climate and marine research. Professor Gerald Haug, current president of LEOPOLDINA (German Academy of Natural Scientists), director of the Max Planck Institute and professor at ETH Zurich, overcame many obstacles to steer this ambitious project into today’s welcoming waters.

The hull is mainly made of classic fiberglass, with carbon fiber reinforcements. Its elegant lines come from the pen of Lorenzo Argento. However, the requirements for the “Eugen Seibold” are very different from those for a private yacht. Due to its oversized hull, the research sailboat weighs at most 44 tons fully loaded with equipment.

 Eugen Seibold exterior

The stern of the first customized YYachts commissioned by the renowned Max Planck Institute for Chemistry is designed to carry out oceanographic scientific research. The prominent roof of the float is provided with individual windows that allow a 360º view of the sea. In addition, this sailboat is designed to be safely steered from the interior cabin on long voyages or in adverse weather conditions.

The interior is practical and user-oriented. Key features include the second staircase to the aft deck as well as the deckhouse. This sustainable carbon sailboat offers eight berths, plus laboratory space and specially designed work space.
